35 Countries + Art as 36th and final global contributor to building a star on Earth.

Over the last three decades, thirty-five countries have joined together to build a sun on Earth––Humanity's greatest terrestrial achievement of the celestial. The project is ITER, a 444 acre site in Saint-Paul-Lez-Durance [FR], dedicated to studying the power of stars through generating one for humankind.

Corday's five-year collaboration with ITER Directors resulted in ‘Art’ as the thirty-sixth and final global contributor with the installation of a single object within the infrastructure of the star. The untitled two-pound work, Sans Titre, now sites in the repeated anonymity of shared material and measurement within ITER’s M30 Bolts––in permanent structural responsibility of the mega-heavy forms at the heart of the star: the Tokamak.

Corday’s interests in ITER are many––its unprecedented material advancement and conversation in temperature that of 150 million degrees C [10x hotter than our sun]––its unprecedented event within material states that defines her studio practice and the medium of her work––and the promethean material aims in the creation of clean, abundant energy, peaceful power and its shared ideas.

We are the witnessing generation of humanity realizing a star on Earth––the pyramids of our times––a project representing half the world’s population joined together for public good and shared knowledge; of rigor and devotion; and unwavering focus over decades.

Sans Titre is not materially seen but rather material seeing; a material in perpetual touch with our anthropomorphic star.
